I am a 7 year old street dog called Martian. My life hasn’t been the easiest but I was managing to look after myself until an attack by an angry dog left me with a scary wound on my back. I was in terrible pain when I was found one day by a man called Khun Sanae. He is an Animal Rescue Officer with Soi Dog and spotted me in the course of his duties. When he saw how badly injured I was, he wasted no time in picking me up and driving me to the Soi Dog shelter. Once we got there, I was rushed into the vets who cleaned out my wound. They told me it was badly infected and full of maggots. They put me on medicine called antibiotics to make the infection go away and also gave me painkillers so it wouldn’t hurt anymore. I have improved so much since then, under the daily care of Dr. Eugene. He often tells me about the Soi Dog supporters who funded my treatment. Their monthly donations meant I could be picked up and given the emergency treatment I so badly needed. There are many other street dogs like me – and street cats too – that have nobody to help them. They are alone in this world and many of them are sick or injured. These animals have only one hope now. That hope is YOU.
