I am a bit pleased with myself. :-) The lead up was that our washing machine blew a foof foof valve and hasnt been working at all well for a while now. Right now, it doesnt work at all and the part that needs to be replaced is sitting on my desk. I have ordered it but it wont arrive til Tuesday or Wednesday at the earliest. Meantime Mount Washmore was growing and growing. So I hauled out the old human powered washing machine my Dad got from Mr and Mrs McLennan out home when the electricity came through to Yelarbon and they didnt need it anymore, but as we were out of town and we didnt have electricity yet, it was greatly appreciated. That would have been around 1956. I was born in 1958. I have carted this thing around with me ever since we moved Mum in off the farm in 1986. Many a person has tried to relieve me of its possession, claiming it to be junk, old fashioned, and a waste of space. This morning I proved them all wrong. I got a total of 4 large loads of washing done in the space of about 2 hours. I admit that it is a good thing I am a cleaner/gardener otherwise my arms and shoulders would be sore forever as they got a very good workout. Now, if I had been waiting for my front loader to do the job, I would have to have waited 2 hours for each load... The down side is that the whole wash has to drip dry but Im sure there are worse things that could happen.
