I am a classically trained musician. Through the years, I have made (at least a significant portion of) my living singing music from that category. But like a few others who, thankfully, have made the admission, I have always come out as as a vociferous fan of certain pop artists.* Anyone who knows me, knows of my preoccupation with Björk. Now, bubbling on the backburner, as she has been for many years, is P!nk. I recently gave the Truth about Love DVD, from which the posted video is excerpted, as a birthday gift to my best friend, but I think I will wear it out before he has a chance even to enjoy it. I have no qualms about voicing my love of Charpentiers music, or that of Banchieri, the stuff of which my doctoral thesis was made, but if youre willing, I ask you to explain to me how this concert excerpt isnt equally powerful in its own way. ----------------- * cf.
