I am a former Seal Beach resident, but I now live in the south - TopicsExpress

I am a former Seal Beach resident, but I now live in the south section of Cypress. We had a BIG coyote problem here two or three years ago. Many residents lost their cats that they did not bring inside at night. Many times, the mutilated remains of cats would be found on almost a daily basis. Pet food was also left outside that coyotes would eventually find. The problem was repeatedly publicized to residents and eventually people started to keep their pets indoors as well as the food. I am not aware of any coyote problems in our area at this time. I have friends who reside in the vicinity of Bolsa Chica Road and Westminster Ave. and they are now having problems in that area. Coyotes have brazenly been seen prowling there during the day. It seems they move in groups or packs to wherever they can find a good source of food. You MUST keep pets indoors at night and accompany them closely during daytime walks. Do not leave pet food outside at night. Do not dump any type of wasted food into outdoor trash barrels, or you are essentially operating a restaurant for coyotes. So, eliminate the food source and the packs will move on to another place, which, unfortunately, becomes a problem for some other neighborhood.
