I am a human being and a man, who surely has his weak spots and also does mistakes at times. But I am really trying to be friendly and treat people with love and respect as much as I possibly can. I do not even mind going out of my ways at times to help people when they need it, and its a pleasure to do so, whenever I can. This is the way I was raised and the way I feel is right, since I really believe that what we give comes back to us big time. But unfortunately this is not everyone´s mindset... No matter how long I am a professional musician already, in our business there seem to always be people who tend to think that the greatness of what they do entitles them to use my friendliness to their own advantage, by for instance expecting of me to play shows with them (or play on their recording / album) for free or peanuts, or by for instance letting me wait for my money or trying to break the deal they suggested themselves after I went out of my way to save their ass when they call me to sub in the very last moment... Very often this is justified by ridiculous excuses or, even worse, by the argument that it was a great promotion for myself to be playing with them or featured on their album. THERE IS NO PROMOTION VALUE in working for free, while others take the money and / or the credits... 2014 has been a really amazing year so far, but it also had some of those experiences in store for me (too many for my taste), making me think about what it is I still need to learn in those regards... So here is one for the books: IF YOU ARE NOT A CLOSE FRIEND and CONSIDER BOOKING ME FOR YOUR SHOW OR YOUR RECORDING, AND CONSIDER ASKING ME TO DO IT FOR NOTHING OR RIDICULOUS AMOUNTS WHICH ARE DISRESPECTFUL AS SUCH, PLEASE SAVE YOUR AND MY TIME AND DO NOT CONTACT ME. IF YOU CONSIDER TO DISRESPECT ME BY BREAKING DEALS, LETTING ME WAIT FOR MY MONEY AFTER THE WORK IS DONE, OR NOT PAYING ME AT ALL, PLEASE KNOW THAT THERE IS SOME PRETTY DECENT LAWYERS WHO KNOW HOW TO DEAL WITH THIS KIND OF SITUATIONS!!!! Unfortunately too many of us are taking too much bullshit from people, because they desperately need the job to make a living, or because they are blinded by the fake picture the other side is painting of themselves... Of course everything is negotiable and I am willing to negotiate, but just with those who are loving, fair and respectful...
