I am a member of the Liberal Party, and outgoing president of the Geelong Region Young Liberals. I have watched as many friends committed to the values of the party have left for sunnier ideological climes. The conduct I have described above bears little resemblance to the values of the party, but this undeniable fact strengthens my commitment and resolve to remain and advocate for policies in line with those values, rather than weakens it. While I do not begrudge anyone for choosing ideological purity over constant and thankless struggle, I believe working for reform within an organization is not only the higher path, but the one more likely to bear fruit.
