I am a psychologist in private practice in Santa Rosa, California. I am currently training to become a Jungian psychoanalyst at the CG Jung Institute in San Francisco. I serve as adjunct faculty in the Depth Psychology Program at Sonoma State University. I received my Masters in Counseling Psychology and PhD in Psychology from Meridian University (formerly Institute of Imaginal Studies) in Sonoma County, California, which provided extensive training in imaginal and Jungian oriented psychotherapy, as well as somatic, mindfulness, psychodynamic, shamanic and ecopsychology approaches. I received my Bachelors Degree from UC Berkeley, and my law degree (JD) from UCLA. As Director of the Family Trauma Research and Treatment Program in Santa Rosa from 2006-2009, I directed a program that provided group, family, couples and individual therapy to hundreds of men, women and children. I developed a specialty using mindfulness-based approaches for people healing from depression and anxiety, recovering from trauma and abuse, and fostering improved communication in creating and maintaining healthy relationships. As a core faculty member at Meridian University in Petaluma (2006-2010),classes taught include Law and Ethics, psychological research development, and group and imaginal process. In my role as Director of Student Development, I served as graduate student advisor and as Director of Research, I chaired numerous dissertation committees. My own research dissertation, Carrying Josephs Bones: Reclaiming Jewish Identity and Healing Intergenerational Trauma Through Ritual Connection to Collective Memory, focused on the experience of Jews who had lost connection to the sacred because of intergenerational transmission of trauma, and explored how engaging mythic imagination and collective memory through ritual and study provided a pathway to reclaiming ones sense of the sacred. I trained at the Lomi Clinic in Santa Rosa and completed the Lomi Applied Somatics Program, an extensive training in mindfulness, Gestalt and somatic therapy approaches. In addition to my psychology training and experience, I have been an attorney for over 25 years. I worked as an attorney advocate for community and social justice organizations, and organized citywide movements for progressive voter education and reform. I co-founded an organization dedicated to supporting Native American efforts for sovereignty, religious freedom, and freedom from environmental degradation of native lands, and worked for many years on behalf of environmental organizations to prevent logging of old growth forests and to protect the sensitive habitats of the north coast region. I am a certified mediator, and am trained in nonviolent communication and conflict resolution.
