I am a subscriber to the Navy Times and it is a great tool to be able to keep up with what is going on inside our military branches. However, that being said, I am appalled at the lack of leadership and discipline today versus when I was on active duty. To be sure, there were issues then also, but either it wasnt rampant as it is now or they just hid it better. I do know way back then that there was a drug problem. It seems someone was always getting busted for dope or dealing. But they took a hard line against it and it either drove it down or into hiding better. As I scan the articles now Im seeing a systemic problem of poor leadership from Commanding Officers and their ships compliment. This only serves to weaken our forces. During the times we live we need good leadership from our President all the way down through the enlisted ranks.
