I am absolutely FURIOUS with Telekom Malaysia Berhad. About 8 years ago I cancelled an account with them in Wangsa Maju. Over a year later they found me. The account hadnt been cancelled, theyd let it run for almost a year and Id thrown away the closing of account of documentation which Id had done at the Titiwangsa main office. With no proof, I paid the RM1k or so bill off eventually. About 4 years ago I had an account under my cousins name at my rented place in PJ. Same story. More than a year after the cancellation, their debt collectors came around saying there was an outstanding amount of about RM500. Again, naive and timid I paid it off bit by bit. This year, after Id gotten my own place in PJ and been travelling for a long-ish time, they found me. They had my number and sweetly offered me an internet and phone package. Stupid me took it. After about 6 months I had trouble paying and they suspended my line but I paid it off quickly and in full at their machine at TMPoint Uptown. My internet was reactivated but not my phone line. So today I walk into a TM Point in Kepong to check my bills and pay up (I was slightly suspicious, the monthly bills have been erratic - they should be the same every month because the phone line is unusable). You know what? Miss Natasha you do not have any account active. But. The old account under your cousins name is and that has bills outstanding. Just how do they manage that??? They suspended my account (which they say now was a cancellation), I somehow still have internet running now at my place - but its billed under my cousins name!!! Lucky thing its my cousin involved and Id never try to screw her over. But what if it was your name on the bill - and the other person couldnt give a toss about you? Just pay up baby cos youre screwed. If anyone thinks Im a smart cookie this is to prove you that Im not. Ive let this authority, this NATIONAL telecommunications company of ours abuse me more than once. Let this be a warning to all Malaysians that TM is a company that is untrustworthy and is more than happy to screw YOU over for THEIR incompetence. Keep all the paperwork FOREVER because it seems their strategy is to hunt you a long time after youve been separated, when youve been lulled into a false sense of security that everything TM has been settled and is OK. Im looking for an alternative to this crooked company and Id be happy to hear all your suggestions.
