I am against the appointment of Ms. Bent because I don’t think she carries any expertise to the job which others don’t have and will be earning in addition to a munificent pension, a salary which the country cannot afford at this time. In other words, why is one person earning this enormous amount of money (by government standards at least) at a time when we are so strapped for money and even some university people cannot get jobs and others can barely eke out a living? It seems like somebody was just waiting for Ms. Bent to retire to give her this plum appointment. Don’t they have any succession planning in place at the prisons? It would seem though that Ms. Bent deserves this appointment since the men at Corrections don’t seem to have any balls.
