I am an Animal Biotechnologist! Where the Animal benefits more than the Biotechnologist! Our cows & buffaloes live in AC, a cow scratcher brush costs more than our monthly salary, there are more minions to attend them than we can ever afford as us, and more humans interested in their fertility than the animals themselves. Added to this the National topic of all brags- Milk production sees mighty prospects in my subject! So what is it expected of one like me? An in-house postdoc or an exotic one, a run for some permanent sarkari naukri or a struggle to get into any kind of Assistant Professorship, or cracking an ARS if only invited with vacancies. Even when one makes it as a scientist, its no longer a zone of science that dominates their world as much as the ordeal of administrative pursuits. And appears to all the rest of the world, anyone not following this rut is only whiling away their time in futile games. And the wisest of all have earned their degrees and gone for Bank jobs or Civils or no further attachment with Science. Why does higher education end up enslaving us more than emancipating us? Why so directionless ?Where is our purpose met?
