I am an autiMOM to a 7 year old A MAZE ING boy who lives with autism. Sonny was diagnosed in April 2011 with autism and in 2013 with seizures. I fought for many years for these diagnoses... When I finally got them I felt relieved, but at the same time an unimaginable sadness for the challenges he would face. Sonny is a very bright little boy who has worked very hard to met his goals and expectations. Sonny has shown me a whole new way to look at life and not one day of my life with him have I lost faith or hope that he would be BIGGER than autism. Sonny loves friends and I am sure all of my autiMOMs knows how hard it can be for our little ones to make friends due to the social aspect of autism. Sonny tries so hard, but some kids really dont understand him or they are truly just not very nice. I have been organizing this thought for a while and I am finally ready to put it out there: I would like to have a group where our children are pen pals! I will match buddies together based on information provided to me and 1 other mother (at this time). They can write each other, draw pictures, send gifts, stickers, pictures, etc.... Whatever that want! Moms can help out of course! I know Sonny will have trouble writing, but I know this means a lot to him so I will help with EVERYTHING! I hope this works out for all of us! Hey I am also open to moms being PALS as well! I look forward to getting to know each and everyone of you and letting our children know they are not alone and have friends all over the world!!!!
