I am an old boy of about 12 years of age. My name is Jiminy. I am at Soi Dog, recovering from years of neglect. For as long as I can remember, I had very horrible problems with my skin. I had owners who didn’t care and despite being told several times that they should take me to a vet, they didn’t. My condition got worse and worse, until I was rescued by Soi Dog. I was very scared when I arrived at the shelter. I didn’t know why I’d been brought here or what was going to happen to me. The vets did something called a skin scraping and that told them that I was suffering very badly with mange and I also had a fungal skin infection. They put me on medication for these things and today, I am getting so much better. I am not so scared anymore because I have learnt that here, they want to help me. Nobody has ever done that before. When the Soi Dog people come to visit me, although I am still a bit shy, I like to sit down next to them. I cannot speak to tell them I am grateful and so this is my way of showing it. After suffering for so long, I am finally getting the help I need and that is all down to the Emergency Response Team. This group of Soi Dog supporters donate monthly so that dogs like me can be helped. My treatment is ongoing and I am just one of many animals in distress.
