I am angry and stressed beyond words!! Last year in march i received 4 fines in my name for a car that I sold in 2010! When i sold my car I sent in the appropriate car disposal forms to vic roads. Apparently Vic Roads never transferred the car out of my name and into the new owners name. Since selling the car i moved states. According to Civic Compliance I am the person responsible for paying for these fines that total over $1000.00! I have sent them the receipt of the car disposal, i have sent them the name, the address and the phone number of the new owner, i have sent them 3 signed Affidavits stating that what i am providing is all true. I have sent them proof of me not being in the state at the time of offenses, let alone at the locations, i have paid for them to send me the photographs so then i could then send them a picture of the back of my head as well as the drivers head as to prove i wasnt in the car, not only is our hair style different, but we have different skin color! I dont know what else they need. They are still saying because the owner of the car cant be found that i am responsible for paying these fines! my next move is to take them to court, I am a single mother of three children, i live in Adelaide with no partner or help. They expect me to board a plane to Melbourne and see them in court! Whats another option i ask? Vic legal aid can represent you, in your place. I called Vic legal aid and because i i live in South Australia i cant be helped. So i called SA legal aid, but because the fines occurred in Vic, they cant help. After calling all legal aid places in the country its safe to say that i cant get any help. If i dont turn up in court it will rule against me. If i leave this matter and do nothing they will issue a warrant for my arrest. Clearly it is all about money, because ive pleaded my case 1000 times with the brain-dead idiots who answer my calls. No one has any other advice! When i spoke to them last time i told them i was so stressed that i would rather kill myself than deal with their untrained, unemphatic staff, with which he replied that i was probably being a little bit ridiculous and needed to calm down. i wasnt going to kill myself over it, but a little bit of support or the number for life line would have been appreciated if i was in fact being honest. The staff are only being trained into taking payments and are generally good for nothing. if anyone can give me any advice on how the hell im going to get my ass interstate with no money and no babysitter to possibly fight a case that seems pre determined id loose for the fact that they only care about the money and not where it comes from, then i would greatly appreciate it!!
