I am at my wits end and two trainers at my agility place are stumped too. I have been trying to train Pip (BC, 7 months) out of biting her leash for 5 months to no avail. She does it the whole time while we do agility because she gets so excited and then she can barely see. She also does it any time she gets excited. Here is what I have tried: yucky stuff on the leash, a blow up collar so she couldnt reach (but she could), distracting her with sits, downs etc., saying leave it, clicking and treating as soon as she drops it, a chain leash...I am enthusiastically in favor of positive reinforcement but feel it might be time to try something negative. I have been very patient but I am beyond frustrated at this point. Would citronella spray be worth a try, maybe? Any suggestions? She picks up anything I teach her super quickly.
