I am being attacked because in 2012, along with many concerned parents and community members, I protected the AP English curriculum and its integrity. I met many wonderful people because of our mutual opposition to the watering down of the rigor to appease a very vocal minority. At the same time, I also made some enemies who are politically motivated because of their own failure to succeed when running for public office. I will not stoop to the level of these extremists. A reason I am running for school board is because we can’t afford to be watering down AP curriculum at time when colleges and universities are demanding more of our students. We need to protect access to education. I believe in making our schools the best they can possibly be and that will only come by making them welcoming places for all children. I don’t bash because that is not the kind of person I am, nor would I want to be that kind of example for my own children. And I would like to say that I very much appreciate the outpouring of support that I have received. Thank you all!
