I am compelled to include this parting thought, a reminder of time to consider the invasive-ness of our own human species, and what controls may be helpful in mitigating our own invasions. At its core, the gist of this idea is as follows: as we have vectored so many other species around the world in our inventions, so we have brought our own species as well, and spread to almost every continent across the earth. It is time we looked at our impacts, our vigorous and unchecked growth, our movements through native landscapes, and consider what path we would like to travel on to shape our world with. A world stripped of its natural growth and replanted with strip malls, housing complexes, timber plantations, corn-feed fields and grazing grounds, or mountains reorganized into tailings? Do we really want to live in a noxious world? What choices could we make instead that may change the course of this planet, if even slightly, to a world with a little more balance, a little more harmony, a few more species, a bit more wilderness?
