I am completely humbled this evening as I have just received the update on Will for the night. It seems that with all the sharing, cross posting and donations we have covered his TOTAL vet bill to date, and given him a reserve of roughly 8 days more treatment. The treatment is costing just over $120 per day and includes special feeding, supplements, fluids and 24 hour round-the-clock care, as well as treatment for his ulcerated eye, and anemia. The vets who have been taking care of will have done such an amazing job and have been completely blown away by the outpouring of support from the Great Dane community. Tonight you can see his eyes shining for the first time and although they remain deeply recessed, they are open and bright…..It is just a small miracle that this boy is heartworm negative… Once he is stabilized he will be able to go into foster and begin a new life! Thank you to EVERYONE who shared, cross posted and donated!!! Thank you to the amazing vets and techs that have taken this boy and given him a chance at life! Dr. Fanta, Dr. Rutherford and the owner of the practice, Dr. Rosenweig, as well as the amazing staff at Animal Emergency & Critical care all deserve our thanks and praise for working around the clock to give this boy the chance he deserved! If you had hoped to donate, I would ask you to hold that thought.. I pray we will have what Will needs and the rest of what would have been donated can be directed to the next baby in need!
