I am concerned with some recent posts to this list and others regarding which types of songs are considered acceptable at a bardic or song circle. I recognize the intent - to encourage people to sing together. But what if someone who wants to participate doesnt know a song of the appropriate style? What if that nascent bard only knows one song? The impression being given is that only certain song styles will be allowed. This is a slippery slope, people. Anyone who wishes to attend a bardic or song circle should be encouraged to attend and participate. Ever person should be encouraged to sing a song, regardless of what that song may be. Do anything else and you will wind up heading away from your goal, not towards it.
