I am confused about the debate between a world according to Mr. Gates and the one according to the new techno-visionaries. Maslows hierarchy of needs is not a defunct theory due to the advent of new technology. Physiological needs are not about to be fulfilled by connectivity. According to the World Bank, more than 4 billion people out of 7 billion of the estimated world population live on either a $1/day or $2/day. We have got to find ways to make sure that our fellow human beings are fed, sheltered and healthy before we put them in front of computers. Mr. Gates is not to be questioned on his mission but joined by anyone who cares about humanity, including those who want to create new industries and technologies.
