I am considering listing Jewel for sale. A lot of people know her, and know she has been my heart and soul for many years as she climbed the ranks in the barrel pen. She is a 2005 AQHA mare (A Jewel Contender, she is on allbreedpedigree). She wont be getting the time she deserves with me and the young ones next year (crossing my fingers Strider makes a full come back and can Derby with Jessie next yr!). As much as I needed and missed her this summer with animal lameness following me everywhere I went, next summer I have to be dedicated to the colts (if they can all stay on 4 legs). Shes a constant 1D mare (.5 second split in BC) , 2D at the big stuff like BCBRA finals, ran top 1D in her few outs in AB (Oil Country Barrel Challenge 2013 she was in the top 15 all weekend against pro horses) , but she has also seen the mechanical cow, and been out of the roping box a few times too. Im going to continue running her until she sells. I will be beyond picky who she goes to. She is easy to haul, trim, shoe, and bathe. No BS comes from her. Would be suitable for a youth, she does get a bit chargey in the alleyway but by no means uncontrollable or dangerous, just wants to run. Kids can ride her in the arena with ease, but wouldnt suggest young ones running her. Paisley our 4 year old can lead her around and shes quiet as a mouse. Would be a smokin high school rodeo horse, or take her and keep her running in the open. I still think she has even a little more to give. She truly is a one in a million mare, but I have young ones that need attention and work, and shes too nice to let sit. She deserves to be run, not sit and be pulled out for a jackpot every now and then. If you know of anyone who might be looking for something like her, send them my way.
