I am convinced...Ricky Gervais is a complete fraud. With his performance on the Golden Globes and the several interviews he passes himself as a cold, cynical, nasty brute. After watching the first episode of Derek, the Netflix produced series written and directed by Gervais and also playing the titular character. The show is poignant, funny, subtle, moving and beyond the means of that smart-ass I see Gervais pretending to be on Letterman. Ricky, you fooled me. This show is brilliant and it is a testament to British television that could produce such superb programming on the budget of a church school picnic. If you have Netflix, check this out. I believe there are only six episodes.
