I am curious how others would handle this situation which I am currently in: your department is undergoing a reorganization and you are told you have 6 weeks left and then your job is eliminated however youre the only person who does your job and now you have to train another person to do your job who is already overloaded and youve been taking on their work on top of yours. You love working for this company its beliefs and patient care and are at loss for why this decision was made because you were told it was not personal and not performance-based. The restructuring comes down from a position at the top that does not understand how the development group is structured in a lab setting and its a bad decision all around and your team agrees but since its from the top theres nothing to be said. How am I supposed to look for a new job well Im going to be spending double hours completing my work transferring knowledge and trying to interview not to mention my mental state at the shock of all this Im just barely getting through days since my grandmother died putting it aside to be professional at work. I was told I could apply for a position in the Irvine lab that is a senior level position. However I live nowhere near Irvine and the person who is telling me all this seems to have no knowledge of my skills which seems like the reason I was chosen for the easy cut for the budget first quarter. I just dont know how the logic works Im not a robot I dont know Ive never been in this situation. Im thankful for having 6 weeks of pay and work left however it pains me because I put a lot of heart and soul into what I do as do my team mates this is not an easy industry working with cancer diagnostics.
