I am currently fully engulfed in this crazed hectic schedule. Working full time, taking four classes, and doing my clinical internship on my days off from work (2-4 days a week depending on the week and swap off days), being a mom (good thing I have my back bone (Jason Wallace), and a Wife (really fiance but after 13 years Im the WIFE) AND not to mention HOMEWORK lots of papers 8-15 pages a pop!!! but through all this I am HAPPY! I find that working in the detox unit as a clinical social worker is a lot more rewarding than working in a jail. Being in the helping side is definitely where I needed to be. I feel sane in insane circumstances. Maybe I feel this way because I have been part of the oppressive team all my life...not just the 11 years I have in the Department of Corrections. I look forward to these very hard two years to go by. It is hard work but I see the light, I now that it is the best decision I could have made for my future. It is rewarding to be able to offer theoretical advice with the opportunity for growth in another human being. I appreciate paying it forward. My life experiences have made it possible to have such insight in what it really means to be oppressed but also being able to survive and mature in a way that I could be in the position to possibly help others find it within themselves to also survive and surpass life incredible hardships. just putting it out there as I try to De-stress a little.....sighs
