I am currently reading Look, I Made A Hat by Stephen Sondheim - TopicsExpress

I am currently reading Look, I Made A Hat by Stephen Sondheim which covers all of his shows from 1984, (Sunday in the Park With George) to the present, as well as the music and lyrics he wrote for the movies he was involved with, (The Seven Percent Solution, Reds, and Dick Tracy, for example), as well as commissioned works. (The first volume, Finishing the Hat covers his works from the inception of his career as a composer/lyricist to 1984.) In addressing the first interest in turning his and James Lapines brilliant show, Into the Woods into a movie, they were first approached by Columbia Pictures and Jim Henson in 1995 but, when the studio regime changed hands, the idea was scrapped along with other projects no doubt. Sondheim lists the stars who were present at the two readings of the script including Mary Steenburgen, Robin Williams, Goldie Hawn, Cher, Elijah Wood and Steve Martin. He says, All that and Jim Henson, too. I wish... Looks like wishes really do come true! Into the Woods will be coming out this Christmas, a Disney production directed by Rob Marshall (Chicago) starring Meryl Streep, Chris Pine, Emily Blunt, Anna Kendrick, Johnny Depp and Tracey Ullmann, just to name a few. Squeeee!!!!
