I am currently working on a project that may end up being my Doctoral Dissertation. I am working on a concept of a modern catechism that Pastors would go through with every family in their church to ensure doctrinal understanding and to create a spiritual growth plan. This would be similar to what Richard Baxter, John Calvin and others used to do for their congregations. In a time of biblical illiteracy we have to approach things differently. These greats of the faith would take 2 months out of the year and meet with families from their church to do this. This post isnt to debate the validity of such an approach. Please keep it focused on, What do you consider necessary elements of a modern catechism that a Christian would have cemented in their hearts and minds? Ill start... 1. The ability to recite The Lords Prayer.
