I am definitely an extremist on one issue. The government should never, ever, spend one dime on advertising anything. Ever. The latest example is the horrific disaster of a commercial with Seattle Seahawks players pitching Obamacare. As if Richard Sherman wasn’t annoying enough already. But, it’s not just Obamacare. It’s everything. Why on earth do we allow our government to take our money, only to spend it on advertising to convince us to join programs that wind up costing us even more money? We don’t need ads to convince people they need food stamps. Hunger usually does that for us. We don’t need badass commercials to alert people that the military exists. I think people are aware. And we definitely don’t need millionaire football players with the best health care on the planet to teach people to sign up for the worst healthcare on the planet. Particularly when the pitch and the cost of the product come out of your pocket. Think about how insane this is. Our government has traditionally been restricted in it’s ability to produce propaganda. But, hey! If they pay a television or radio station to play that propaganda for them, it’s a celebrated part of our (formerly) capitalist system! Yay! So call me an anti-advertising extremist. But, I’d like a constitutional amendment. Here’s the text: “No government entity shall ever spend any money on advertising. Anything. Ever. Period. Smiley face.” Feel free to take that one and run with it, Washington. https://youtube/watch?v=TQ2U1l2GlGM
