I am devastated to announce that Steve Quackenbush was killed night before last in an automobile accident. His son Kurt was in the car and has painful injuries but has been released from the hospital. Shari is understandably bereft and is staying with friends. They were in Castle Rock attending to the sale of their house in preparation for a move to Texas when the accident occurred. Teri Baird and Cindy Griffith are front and center being with Shari and communicating plans to me. Steve was killed in a car accident late Saturday afternoon. Steve and Shari were back in the area taking care of the sale of their home just outside of Castle Rock. Many of you will remember that Steve and Shari had just moved to the Fort Worth area late this spring. They had not fully completed the move and the sale of their home here when Steves death occurred. Funeral services will be held here at the church on Friday July 11 at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in Castle Rock and a reception will be held at the Douglas County Fair Grounds in Castle Rock following the service. Shari was not in the vehicle when the accident happened. However, as you can imagine, the whole family is devastated. Jane Smith is assisting the family by organizing meals. Shari will be staying with close friends in the area.
