I am early to work today... The Backbay, my workplace and playground on and off for 20 plus years, is bustling with people hurrying to jobs unaware of what goes on around them. I take a walk up Boylston street and think how Ive seen this street, this city change. But somethings dont. The tenacity and strength of a city. I walk by countless waves of Blue ( FF from all over) as I take a moment to pay my respects to two fallen heroes and their house mates. I wear an Engine 33 BFD redSox shirt in the gym Ive had for years. I throw money in a boot, I have bought patches from the firehouses around the city, college friends, family, neighbors who are firefighters. Today all those small things are put into perspective. I know we have done this way to often in this city, in this country but lets take a moment or several moments this week to think about and thank those who do things in our name that we wouldnt or couldnt do!
