I am excited over the flow of traffic on the “Buu-Yao Forum” - TopicsExpress

I am excited over the flow of traffic on the “Buu-Yao Forum” of late since my critical comments about previous posts glorifying Hon. Samuel Korgar. I appreciate comments from some of our brothers—particularly Alvin Sehkar, Sr. and Jackson You, whom, having identified themselves as some of the founders and administrators of the forum, continue to clarify that the medium is not intended to champion any political cause for the Hon. Korgar. Bravo brothers, for your clarifications!! I write these lines particularly, to caution one of the commentators—our brother Aloysius Bumie—who is coming on this platform with battle sword. Aloysius’ first limitation, I believe, is difficulties with following details and understanding people as he continues to misquote people and misrepresent things. Yesterday, responding to my first post on the concerns being discussed, he said I alluded that I have not been following the forum closely, when my actual assertion was that I have followed quite well but have made little contributions. I had to take a lot of time making these clarifications for him. His new comments to my recent post are further demonstrating these challenges. I find it difficult to see the correlation between his question: “If this forum cannot recognize the effort of the district residents as you claimed then for whom are we discussing?” and all that I have been saying. Have I said peoples’ efforts should not be recognized? In contrast, I have called for other people’s contributions to be recognized and that such recognitions be spontaneous and not stage-managed like what is being done with Hon. Korgar. I do understand that English is not our first language and we all have challenges sometimes, but at the levels we are, comprehensive listening can at times be very helpful. I could speak our mother tongue—Gio (as I read and write it very well)—but I am not sure if everyone sharing on this medium can do likewise. Aloysius has also proven that his motives are different from those of the brothers I mentioned above. This should be a platform on which we collectively discuss issues affecting the development of our district. But it is surprising that in response to simple concerns and suggestions intended to improve the way we conduct our discussions, Aloysius has drawn battle lines and is sounding battle cries. He is warning others: “Be informed that we are not afraid!” He is so emotional, describing some of our brothers as “Nicodemus”, “Devil” and whatever he feels. I am beginning to question his ability as an intellectual—which I had thought we all were--because the hallmarks of intellectualism are tolerance, diplomacy and respect for others. More so, I can imagine how our district would have been if Aloysius was at the helm of leadership as perhaps Hon. Korgar is today. He would have crushed everyone else then, because to him, all those with dissenting views are enemies and must be annihilated. “Goodbye, let them go” was going to be the order of the day as he has demonstrated in his post. But I don’t think the sons and daughters of Buu-Yao are enemies on account of difference in views. Your question, brother, should not be the one you asked me above. You should rather ask: “If we keep out everyone who disagrees with us, then for whom should we be discussion development matters?” Aloysius’ posture also reminds me of the ‘palava hut’ discourses back during school days on Capitol Hill, characterized by clichés and militancy. I am above this and expect that he should be above that, too. This is the bigger society and our approaches to things should now be different from students’ politics. Mr. Bumie, as for your offer to pray for me, I would appreciate that you consult me so that I share with you others grave prayer concerns I have than this trivial matter of not bringing my batch of names to be glorified on this platform. Like I have always said, I don’t think our interactions should be a contest. If you are receptive and open to other people’s view like our brothers Jackson and Alvin have done, I praise God for you. Otherwise, you may keep sending more of your “Korgarized” posts and dominant them with discussions on this forum. See you later.
