I am glad to enjoy the movie Mery Kom, recently released all over India. The movie is based on the life of MC Mery Kom, who won the fifth times title of the world womans ametuar boxing championship. In several accounts, the biopic movie is unique ! The first of all, after the popular Bollywood movie Dil Seand Koila the film Mery Kom has been shot at NE locations specially in the said boxer home state Monipur. Some improvised rural parts of Monipur and its small towns have been filmed on the silver screene of Bollywood. Another surprising fact of the movie is that Rajani Basumatary, an actress hailing from Rangapara of Sonitpur district, has also played an important role in the movie. The surprise element of it does nt stop here ! Sunil Thapa, an established actor of Nepali cine world, is also playing a role of coach ! The coach of Meri Kom. Priyanka Chopra is playing the lead role of Mery Kom. Though PC has put hard work on the role, but my question is : had nt it been natural if an local actress hailing from tribe community could have been realistic to lead the role MC Mery Kom as context and character demanded ???
