I am going to move to another vet. I dropped DG off at the vet on Monday and went to run errands. They called me about an hour in and said that they needed to go over the estimate with me... I was shocked. I knew he was sick, but. 500.00? This is after they had done an exam... I had taken him in because he was losing weight, diarrhea and was weak. They wanted to run Leukemia and Aids tests, Feline Distemper and a host of other ones... They did a fecal to see if there were any visible parasites.. there were none. I asked them on the phone what his temp was and the lady said the paper says normal ... I asked for the number and she put me on hold. .... Finally she came back and said that it was 101... (because I guess she had to go take his temp...) which is a little low (to me).. He had felt cold to the touch (and still is having trouble staying warm) I asked what his weight was down to and she had to put me on hold again because either they had not weighed him or they did not write it down... both are unacceptable in an exam. He was down to 7.2 (8.5 July and 8.0 in August) *I told them in July when I brought him in for his initial exam that he was losing weight and was told it was nothing to worry about...* In the end, I had them hit him with a broad spectrum anti-biotic and a multi-paracite de-wormer. I also got them to give him subq fluids. I figure that if we got those two out of the way and he still wasnt better that at least we would know to go in another direction. It still ran me 200.00 for everything and they charged me 15.00 to keep him for the 3 hours I was away from the clinic. THEN when I get there to get him they had let him sit in his carrier until he had gone potty in it. It makes me wonder why I paid for kennel space... what did they do? Just sit him and his carrier in the floor? The Vet had already left and the person they sent out to talk to me treated me like it was MY FAULT that DG is sick! They made me feel so bad for not choosing to do all the tests they wanted to do! *inhale, exhale...* He is still sick, tired and cold. I am going to run him up to another Vet this morning. Maybe this one wont treat me like an idiot who just wants to buy a Vet a boat. Not happy with Cheatham County Animal Clinic.
