I am going to rant for a few minutes. I hope thats okay.. If not, then you dont have to keep reading. Just keep on scrolling. First off.. Chick-fil-A.... If you havent heard of what happened, the jist (pun intended) of it was a manager of a store posted a bunch of words that he didnt want to hear at his store from the employees. Words along the lines of hunnid, bruh, and other slang words. There is some outrage with this store and the manager because some deem the act racist. He is apparently a racist manager. To you all who say this man is racist for what he did then take your head, put it in between the door behind you and the door frame. Grab the handle and slam the door repeatedly. Have a friend do the door slamming if you cant do two things at once. Racist? Come on! Its mainly the people that yell racist! with everything are the ones being racist. You work for a business and you are to uphold a particular kind of professionalism while at said business. Slang words should be out of your repertoire of words while you are working. When you get off work, then bruh, call your cuz and just chill. If you do not like what this manager did then you can do two things, one, dont eat there and two, dont apply for a job there. I use slang on a daily basis. Hell, we all do sometimes. However, when you are professionally speaking or speaking to someone who may not use or understand slang then you talk like you have some sense. I knew when to use slang and when not to while working.. If the manager was sooo racist, then he wouldnt have hired blacks, or any other ethnicity, right? Oh, you have to hire blacks because there is a law stating otherwise. Oh yeah, thats right, its called Affirmative Action. Dont you think its racist for someone to hire you because you are of a different ethnicity? I do. Why they ask.. Because I want a company to hire me because I have the skills and professionalism that particular company needs or wants. I want everything BUT my skin color to make the difference if I got the job or not. (Now, if they dont hire you because you are a different color or culture but meet the requirements for the job, THEN we have an issue. I guess Affirmative Action can step in then....) Too bad the manager was white.... If he were black, then I wonder if this would have been a story at all? Oh, yeah, probably. He would have been deemed a sell out or Uncle Tom I am sure. Maybe I am an Uncle Tom for saying what I said about slang shouldnt be used in a professional setting.. WITH THAT BEING SAID. You might want to educate yourself on where the term Uncle Tom came from. Uncle Tom, who was a masculine and virile man, REFUSED to obey his masters request for beating other slaves. (Harriett Beecher Stowes book Uncle Toms Cabin). If he did beat other slaves because his master told him to then the original Uncle Tom would have been an Uncle Tom right? Since he didnt, then why are we using that epithet (simply a word or phrase in place of a name commonly) for black sell outs? Let that simmer on the brain a little while. Let us also not use the word racist so loosely. STOP THE HATE, EDUCATE!!!!
