I am grateful to the Philipsburg Jubilee Library; Niational Institute of Arts; Institute Paedagogic of Aruba; UNESCO; and the Government of Sint Maarten for the cooperation in organizing the lecture entitled: Building The Nation of Sint Maarten: The Role of Cultural Heritage Institutions. This is the first of several series of lectures to come, aimed at encouraging participation in the redefinin...g of the unique cultural identity of Sint Maarten. Sint Maarten has a rich heritage, a unique cultural identity! But it is only when it is well known, can it be fully understood, accepted, appreciated and respected. Lets work together to strengthen the relevant institutions involved in cultural heritage research, documentation, promotion and protection. So that culture regain its rightful position in empowering a stronger nation of Sint Maarten!! It is a pleasure to be involved in the leadership to co-create THE BRAND for our shared cultural heritage. UBUNTU.
