I am honored that a photograph of mine was included in the 2015 Marathon Swimmers Federation calendar, along with eleven other wonderful images of swimmers. Mine is the March photo. It shows Ted Erikson sitting on the rocks at Promontory Point under an portentous sky. Ted is the venerable elder of our Point Swimmers group, having swum across Lake Michigan twice, across the English Channel several times, including one double-crossing. He also held the record for the Farallon Islands to Golden Gate Bridge swim for 46 years. Hes a true swimming legend. But hes also just Ted. He makes us watch out for each other in the water and tells us harrowing stories about hypothermia. He hollers at us if he thinks were acting like idiots in that big lake. He tells off-color jokes. We love him. This is a great gift for the swimmers in your life, and just about anyone else too.
