I am in Kigali, Rwanda, visiting this country for the first time. On April 7, the nation began 100 days of recognition of the one million souls who died 20 years ago during 100 days of madness. I met a young woman who escaped only because she was with her grandmother in the village; her Tutsi father and Hutu mother were butchered in Kigali. It may be beginning again in South Sudan, where thousands of innocents have already died in a power struggle between two men who dont give a damn about ethnic differences, but are happy to use them to leverage armed support. The US and the world sat on its collective ass 20 years ago. The guilty have acknowledged this. Apologies arent worth a thing. Please dont let it happen again.
