I am in the last week of a Jazz Improvisation course with Gary Burton. Has been nothing but a blast! Nothing makes you feel better than peer reviews like these (even when turning in stuff at the last second, damn you real job!): peer 1 → WOW! What a great solo. Told a story, was within the chord scales (as far as I could tell - Im not an advanced listener). You seemed to focus your solo around the guide tones (NICE!), and I think I could tell that you were using common scales in the common scales segments (mainly C Ionian - but, in your language, I guess that is D). In terms of your Lead Sheet, it was hard to tell which you thought of as the guide-tone sections and the common scale segments (and since, but you mentioned that in your comment you had run out of time.) So, your recording certainly sounded like you understood all the concepts, even though the Lead Sheet analysis wasnt complete. peer 2 → good work peer 3 → nice sound, great solo peer 4 → Beautiful! liked listening to you!
