I am leaving Dr. Newberns office with a good report. I get to start gentle physical therapy on my knee the first week of February! I currently have only about 15 degrees of knee flexion (normal knee flexion is 120 degrees). Though Im apprehensive about doing something that is detrimental to the integrity of the graft, Im excited to get back to working toward my goals! After all, I have a looooooong way to go! Though Ill need to continue to wear my rigid knee brace for some time, I can unlock it in small increments to allow for increasing range of motion as I build strength and confidence. In addition, I can report that I am recovering well from my reconstructive surgery that I had two weeks ago. My incisions are less painful and Im beginning to tolerate sitting a little better. All small steps in the right direction! 😃 -A
