I am loving this FB dialogue today, i feel like heart stuff is getting worked out. In response to being asked if I want white people to apologize for their history of oppression: I prefer the term living amends. I want white people to interrupt white supremacy as often as they get the chance to (which is everyday if they are looking) I want them to be active allies in equity. I want them to acknowledge the horrific pain white supremacy has caused by actively doing their parts in their personal lives and in the world to end it. That is what I consider a living amends. The white people in my life (and there are lots) do this and everyday I feel like they honor the past of oppression and thus honor me and that feels like love.
