I am no politician but I have always had a thought which I have never shared so here goes........Yikes ! I am bored of most politicians talking about the same issues all the time like health education and social behaviour. I believe we could address all these in one simple way. ...I would like to see a new approach and I strongly believe it is in SPORT ! I believe 110% if we spent money on sport we would reduce many social issues confronting us these days and nationally reduce unnecessary expenditure in the billions. Kids that play sport are likely to continue playing a sport later in life. They are more likely to live a healthier life and reduce the expense on our healthcare service.. Less adverts needed on anti smoking and sugary drinks etc (saving money) In sport they will have more friends and a feeling of self worth, reducing depression and suicides amongst our youth (saving money) Kids would be less bored and reduce the need to look for alternative forms of entertainment such as vandalism and anti social behaviour. (Saving money) Boost self confidence which will reflect in their schooling and job prospects later in life. Boost our nations sporting reputation globally adding value to our economy. And the list goes on. Lets see money going into sport for kids. I believe its a win, win, win, win, win situation !
