I am not a native Marylander but loved the twenty years I lived there. From 1953 until 1973, 13 years old to 33 years old. Great time to live there. I didnt leave because of all the reasons I see people post now as their reason for leaving. It wasnt the traffic, having to travel the beltways, high taxes or any of those type of reasons. I was in the gas station business long before it became a self-serve business. I just got tired of pumping gas, cleaning windshields, checking oil, etc. in the cold, the snow, and all and decided if I was going to remain in that business I wanted to do it in a warmer climate. I realized long before leaving Maryland that it was a special place, but since I have been on these Ellicott City-Howard County remember when sites and started doing all the research I realize just how strong my connection to Ellicott City-Howard County was. Great time and place it was to be a teenager. It was like Happy Days American Graffitti only living it not viewing it on TV or in the movies. I feel a strong friendship to the great people on these sites even though I havent personally met many of you. Hope you all have your best Christmas ever.
