I am not a patriot. Yesterday I learned what a real patriot looks - TopicsExpress

I am not a patriot. Yesterday I learned what a real patriot looks like. American citizens, deprived of their civil rights and locked behind barb wire volunteered to fight with the US Army in WWII. Despite what was being done to these men and their families, they believed that America was greater than the men and woman running the country. The believed in the promise of the constitution even if others were working to prevent them from receiving those promises. These men became the 442nd combat brigade. They were American citizens of Japanese decent. These men have shown me what it is to be a patriot. After learning of their actions, and after learning about real patriotism, how can I call myself a patriot. May I never have to prove myself in the way these men did during the war.
