I am not against development, my job rather depends on it, but this scheme is very poor, and there seems very little merit in destroying a very attractive and useable building, with considerable modern history. Sadly Boris has a habit of backing the developers all the way on everything. Just sign here please Mr Mayor I sometimes wonder if he is reads what he is signing, and suspect he is too busy with his other activities and ambitions to take a real interest. Its a shame he has so little regard for fine buildings, of which there are many, but rapidly diminishing, in London. Do we not learn anything from history??? High rise 60s blocks seemed a good idea, but many had their concerns at their time. The design I have seen for the potential replacement building is, well, extremely poor, ticks all the heads of terms boxes, an exercise in accountancy as much as anything else . They are just going through the motions, profit first. This certainly did not apply when the LFWE was built, it could have been done much cheaper! Its a building that should be there for future generations, and compliments the church opposite, in a way no modern building can easily achieve. Ummm all this has got be thinking.... how many flats you could get on the Church site? The graveyard is after all a bit wasteful......off plan plot sales anyone???
