I am not convinced that the authorities do not have the powers to deal with the clown in question. I just think that our authorities have over time become soft for fear of being perceived as high handed. Members of public on the other hand have over time become bolder and have less regard for authorities. To make things worse, authorities have also over time divided labour so finely that sometimes no one seem to be sure who is in charge of what. There was a time when police officers pau ka liao and would attend to everything and members of public had a reverent fear of them. In those times, a knock on the door by a police sergeant would have quite certainly an end to the antics of this clown in question. We just need authorities to exercise their powers justly and fearlessly and for the law to come to the authorities rescue when they are challenged unreasonably. Only then will there be order in society.
