I am not sure how to start this little thank you post so bear with me if I make a few mistakes. I had not been involved with Jubilee for 10 years, first off, shame on me. Secondly, I am so glad to be back and involved. I am so proud of where I come from. So proud of the people we call family and home. Most cities have a celebration. What most cities do not have is the spirit that I seen this weekend. Granted there were tense moments and the tea was way too weak on Friday night. Granted there were mistakes and last minute changes but WE did it. I was President at the time of our Centennial and as I looked down the street Saturday morning all I could think about was Centennial morning and the crowd that day. The crowd Saturday rivaled the crowd on that historical year. I seen a community honor a woman who has done nothing but give of herself to all of those around her for her entire life. I had a hard time getting through my tribute to Elenora Crawford and I having a hard time reliving it now. We love you Elenora! I seen teenagers come together for one of their own. I seen people that had seen not each other in years reunite. I seen volunteers that had never volunteered before give a helping hand. I seen business owners reach out to others. I seen booth and vendor people help one another. I seen out of towners work to make our day a celebration. I have learned my lesson on naming names and calling people out for the good they do, simply because I will surely forget someone. I no longer live in Amsterdam. In reality I never did, I was a resident of the suburbs of Merwin. I have lived in Butler for 30 years but Amsterdam is forever my home. I am so proud of you all. So proud of YOUR committee members and so proud that we get to do it all again next year. Just putting this out there, if you want to volunteer next year, we would LOVE to have you.
