I am now officially out of work. My one-year (ish) PR contract as Doctor Spin with KMCS promoting NHS Swale Clinical Commissioning Group and NHS Dartford, Gravesham and Swanley Clinical Commissioning Group has expired. Friday was my last day and was quite sad - but also very busy with back-to-back meetings, first in Maidstone and then in Sheerness for the Swale CCG governing body meeting. I will be sorry to leave the communications team. It is a great bunch of guys who all work really hard. The ones on Facebook include Shelley Whittaker and Billy Bowers. They surprised me on Friday with a most excellent Nurden Has Left The Building card, a first aid kit for guitars (most useful) and a brilliant walking stick (dont ask, but thanks Bobbie Walkem-Smith). They also made me my own Doctor Spin badge (do I really look like that?) which I will be proudly wearing wherever it seems appropriate! I also really enjoyed working with the CCG teams - particularly Dr Fiona Armstrong at Swale and Dr Bhaskar Bora at DGS. The guys at Swale presented me with a hip flask (cant think why!). The members of Her Majestys Press who helped publicise the CCGs work were also brilliant, especially Julia Roberts at the Gravesend Messenger, Gemma Constable and Matt Ramsden at the Sheerness Times Guardian and BBC Radio Kent. Thanks for all your support. I am now planning a number of wheezes to keep me busy during the summer but if you need a Spin Doctor (or just a jobbing journalist) in an emergency you know who to call!
