I am often struck ill in these days, weeks, and months since I stood outside the national stadium with tens of thousands of Rwandans on April the 7th. Im struck sick everyday by the knowledge that Rwanda is still within the 100 days of mourning. 20 years ago, right now, the world was completely aware of what was taking place and just averted its eyes. All the Governments of the world, the United Nations, and the citizens of the world, ignoring the mass torture and massacre of the innocent. In 100 days the population of Rwanda dropped from 7 million to six million. Right now these same atrocities are happening in other parts of the world. Right now the world is crying for the 200 school girls who were kidnapped. But the world and its citizens took two weeks to even start to care about that. Do you know what would really help girls like those? Even more than a hashtag on a blog post? The 7.5 BILLION DOLLARS that is to be cut from our foreign aid budget. How long will it take for the majority of Australians to become enraged at our government for decimating our contribution to international aid? #100daysofhappinessyousay
