I am one of the less opinioted persons ever to walk the orbital surface of earth, always trying to keep it to myself, or perhaps I lack one most times.....even the very serious gender based violonce issue currently drawing attention from the highest seat of the country..somehow failed to excite my lazy gray matter....BUT after I read the recent killing in Khomasdal, with the poor boy watching and pleading for her mothers life....that story awaken me from my unintentional sleep. Today, national prayer day on GBV, a good thing indeed, because at times we need divine interventions, especially if we think that there is nothing more we can do..... BUT have we really ran out of options....I strongly think that we have not even touched the basics....the root cause of this type of violonce is substance abuse, leading to psycological problems...manier times you see these brutal killers being subjected to psychiatric tests and given linient sentences based on their state of minds at the time of commiting the crime....a lengthy jail sentence to me is still linient and is not a deterrent. So finally my rare opinion( Firstly, We need to seriously address substance abuse, a very daunting task, since it is more prevalent among the poor, or perhaps the more privilege ones have access to rehabilitation centres or have family systems that are able to deal with the problems. Therefore, all relevant offices, public or private should join efforts and tackle substance abuse....because these people turn into animals when killing....Lastly we need a detterent..and this is simple JUST BRING BACK THE DEATH SENTENCE!!!!! what happen to the biblical script an eye for an eyeso why not practice this....If we do not act immediately, we can exterminate ourselves in less than a decade....I know is long that is what has been on my mind since I read that story.
