I am one who loves light-hearted people and also who finds - TopicsExpress

I am one who loves light-hearted people and also who finds fund-raising for special causes very noble. And yet I have progressively found this ice-bucket challenge campaign very abrasive and decided not to take active, public part in it. I have nothing against most who did, especially because there are several whom I have utter respect for and who clearly don’t have my same viewpoint, and I am writing this post mainly out of respect for the two friends who nominated me, namely Andrew Azzopardi and Ray Attard via Diane Nikolic who must think I am a silly coward, spoil-sport and over-complicated eejit. In my view, what started off as a valid exercise eventually got hijacked by people who had clear, tacit intentions well away from als and more suited to their own agenda. Is that wrong? I am no judge, yet I don’t like it. My feelings here are very consistent with other televised and highly successful fund-raising stunts which offer crap tv yet collect the necessary money. Is this a case where the end justifies the means? Maybe so, I am still trying to get my head around it. Maybe I should’ve eased up, taken the challenge and just shut up. Had I done so, I would’ve used fake ice-cubes and tepid water!
