I am overwhelmed by the Birthday wishes today and I want to thank every person who took a moment to wish me a “Happy Birthday!” As I reflect on my life today, I realize that I am as happy as I have ever been. Even though our beloved America has at this moment in history a very tenuous hold on liberty and my life has certainly not turned out exactly as I had planned, I can still say that I am as happy as I have ever been with all certainty. Yes, there have been bumps in the road and spiritual mountains that I never saw coming. Many of you were there to lift me up during those times and I thank my Father for you. The only person I know who ever lived a perfect life could not make everyone want to know the truth. He did not heal every person in the world who was suffering. He was mocked and ridiculed by many in the world, many in government and many religious leaders. He died a horrendous, torturous death. On the day He died, His last words were, “It is finished!” He had done what His Father had sent Him here to do. He endured the cross “For the joy that was set before Him . . . ” That is exactly what God asks from each of us. . . simply to live our lives doing what He has asked us to do with the opportunities and talents we have been given. When we do that, we will be able to meet Him one day and say confidently at the end of our journey, “It is finished. I have done what You asked me to do.”
